Rain , Rain , Rain , Stom , Rain , Clouds , Rain...... sigh

Bah ..

Sigh ...

Boring day at the job. Can't believe it's been raining all week-end . It's starting to get a bit cooler outside these days and the Flea Markets are gonna close in a few weeks and I really like going there every week-end. I see the end coming very soon ... sigh. I guess after the Flea markets closure , i'll have to shop and check online to get the good deals .. but that will be a lot less fun .
Anyway , I've worked a lot this week-end and got some money to buy a big NES game so i plan on improving my NES collection big time by buying a title that worth over 150+ $ . That would compensate from the no-items new for my collection week-end .
Anyways , I'll keep you posted this week about this new addition .
Peace out !

Why I Should Win Nintendo World Championships !

Here we go ,

Question : Why should I win Nintendo World Championships ?

Answer : Because I'm the biggest Nintendo Fan ever . I never stopped playing Nintendo games for my whole life , beginning when i was about 3 years old. I've always collected video games , especially from nintendo and this would be the cream of the crop . I can't believe how happy i would be to win this game. I think if i win this , i would litterally build a big monument to display the game and buy a lock and cameras to secure the room . haha.
Nintendo world Championship is the holy grail of video game collecting and it would be an honor to have this treasure !
Thanks to the guys from JJGames.com who are giving away one copy !

Retro Game of the Week #1 : Mike Tyson's Punch Out !

Here it is !

My first review of a game of my collection. One of my favorite game of all time : Mike Tyson's Punch Out !
For those who don't know what is this game , it's one of the best game of the NES system. It's a boxing game where every opponent you face has a special ability or a special moves that you have to counter. The game is very challenging and the difficulty level is perfectly right . The songs are addictive and you will remember them for a long time.
Rarity of the game : Pretty Common . There is 2 versions of the game however . There is Mike Tyson's Punch Out and Punch-Out !!! . Note that the second version doesn't have Mike Tyson's as the final character but a MR. Dream. It is known that Mr.Dream is easier also . I have a few copies of each one including boxed copies of both but only played Mike Tyson's one till the end.
Here is my review :
Gameplay : 10/10
Graphics : 9/10
Sounds : 9/10
Difficulty : 10/10
Total : 38/40
I just recently beated Super Macho Man .. it was tough but i got it . Can"t beat Mike Tyson tho :P
Here is a picture of my feat :

Picture of my 2 boxed copies :

See ya next week for another review !

Finds of the Week #2 ! Edition 2009

Hi again everybody ! Pretty slow week for my collection . I did pick up some games thought and a new console but no new NES games .

First Find was Saturday :
I did pick up Syphon Filter 2 In pretty good condition for 1$ .. Its sad that the woman selling this had only this title and a NHL title cause it would have been some pretty good deals. I didn't take the NHL title as it was missing the original case and instructions booklet.

Then i contacted someone on Craigslist on saturday about a 3do . He was asking 65$ for the console and 4 games. I offered 60$ as i didn't want him to sell to another as i know its pretty difficult to find one of these console nowadays. He accepted and met me to give me this beauty . Its in pretty good shape and 3 games are in the original cases. He told me that after the email i sent him he got several email asking for the console and he could have easily sold this more than that but that he said to me that i had it and he didn't want to break his word. I was really impressed with this kind of attitude , normally people are always trying to get more money . Anyway , here is a picture of it :

Sunday  i got only 1 game but it was a pretty good one with a good story to it .

I'm going every week to a Flea Market that has 2 video games sellers . Mr. A is always selling games very expensive but has no knowledge whatsoever of the value of the games. For exemple , he's selling every NES games boxed for 30$ and every Sega Genesis games for 10$ . Mr. B is well aware of the prices and i know he's checking all the flea market pretty early in the morning to snag the deals . He sells cheaper than Mr. A but there is practically no deals to be made there cause he know every prices.
So , I go to the flea market with my wife and since its cloudy and it's gonna rain during the day , the flea market is pretty empty so i tell my wife i'm gonna go check the video games seller since we are there. I start by going to Mr. A cause its near a DVD movies kiosk and i wanted some movies cheap. Anyway , i stop by the Mr. A kiosk and i start looking at the NES games to see a rare title and i found nothing . While i was starting to look at other games , i come across a Final Fantasy VII black label and Mr. B come to the kiosk and start talking with Mr. A ( while checking at the games also ) . I know that he's looking for deals . But as he comes by i already have the Final Fantasy VII in my hands. I look at the price and see 2 prices .. 49.99$ and a 10$ sticker. I'm sure that he won't sell that for 10$ and if its the case , that the box is empty. So i open it up and everything is there and in good shape . So i ask to Mr. A if its 10$ and he says yes. As i'm taking my wallet to give him the 10$ , i can see the face of Mr. B changing .. he knows that he just lost a good deal . I'm scared that he says to Mr. A how much it worth so i take the game and leave promptly.
While we are walking towards the end of the flea market , i tell my wife that the game is worth a lot more than 10$ and that i just made a pretty good deal . She tells me how much its worth and i tell her i could easily sell this 50-60$ right now . I tell her that we are gonna stop to Mr. B kiosk just to see how much he is selling is FFVII copies. Once we get there , Mr. B is already there and i ask him how much is the FFVII Greatest Hits that he has in his display . He tells me : "Quite a bit more that what you just payed'' !! It's 55$ .
Hahhahaha .. that just made my week . Just that sentence . Was so funny . Anyway , i hope i'll get a better week next week . Until then , may the good games be cheap !

Finds of the Week #1

Hello everyone ! It's time for the Finds of the Week article !
Once again , i bought some new games for my collection .
This is my first 'Finds of the Week' article but i plan on doing it every week with a background story behind every find ! Some people are very intrigued how i got so many games ( 1000+ ) so i figured that would help.

Here we go !

Saturday : Went to a flea market ...This is the First thing i see at a kiosk i always stop by to see if there are new games . I don't have it and its 3$ .. i offer her 2$ and she accept. 1 More NES game to my collection !

Then i see this at an other table . I ask the man how much he wants and tell me 3$ .. i say 2$ and he sells it to me . I didnt have any box for my Sonic 2 so its pretty nice . I has the cart in it wich is pretty mint too .

Same guy that had the Sonic 2 . I ask him how much he wants for that and he tells me 5$ each . I offer him 10$ for the 3 and he accepts. They are not in the best shape but they are good titles so its ok.
Sunday : My other Flea Market

Biggest find of the week in term of numbers . 10 Boxed NES games . I see the games and im wondering how the guy did get them cause i've seen the guy a couple of times before and he never have anything interesting . I see a Megaman 3 and Contra and 2 Zelda and im pretty interested in those . I ask the guy how much he wants for them and he tells me he wants 10$ each . So ... im not ready to pay that much so i ask how much would you do them if i take em all . '8$ each' he said.  I say i'll give you 60$ and i take them all . He says 65$ . I say ok for 65$ but add that Tetris to the lot ... He said ok . Not the best deal ever but the boxes are in good shape .

Last one but not the worst !

Actually it's my best find of the week . I was walking through the rows with my wife and she spots NES games.  So she tells me if i have them and as soon as i see the Bandits Kings , i know that i don't and that this game is worth in the 25$ average with the book . So i ask the lady how much she wants for them and she tells me 3$ each . I offer her 5$ for both and she accepts . You should have seen the face of my wife when she sat in the price book that Bandit Kings was worth 25$ ... haha . Overall , I was pretty happy with the deal !
My new NES count : 481 Different Titles !

The Blog has started !

Hi everyone , let's first introduce myself.

My name is Jonathan and i live in Canada . I'm 26 . I've always liked video games . I started playing when i was around 5-6 years old with the Nintendo Entertainment System ( NES ) and i've never quit since then . I've owned a lot of consoles when i was younger as i was always asking my parents for video games and related stuff ( magazines , cards , video game related toys ).

During my NES times , i played around 50 to 60 titles wich were rentals mostly . The only cartridges i owned are Mario Bros 1 and 2 , Excite Bike ( which i still remember when my dad gave it to me .. i was so happy ) , Dr Mario and Quattro Adventures if i remember correctly.

After my NES times , i got a Sega Genesis , then a SNES , then a Nintendo 64 ... and so on.

My latest console i got were the new generation ones. I got my Xbox 360 the day it launched and it was pretty easy to get at the time .. almost no line-ups . Got to the store 10 minutes before opening and i took my copy of it . The PS3 and Wii were a little bit more difficult to get.
I spent an entire day outside the store to get my PS3 at launch but i got it . I also spent an entire night outside for my Wii but it was the most rewarding as everyone was trying to get one , i did some 'WII' parties that people still remember .

I've started collecting seriously games this year. I'm collecting pretty much every console there is starting with the Atari 2600 and ending with ps3 / xbox 360 . I'm currently focusing on NES thought as i have over 472 different titles on that console. I'm more than 200 titles away from a complete set but i will get there eventually.

So , I decided to start a blog about my 'Addiction' if i can say it like this . I will post here news about retro gaming , Collecting , my new aquisitions , my goals and of course i will post pictures of my stuff.

Every monday or so , i will post a 'Find of the Week' post that show the stuff i got . I will try to explain how i got it and how much did i pay for it .

So , Until next time !
